How Does Nano-Protection Actually Work?

Unlike traditional wax or silicone-based sprays that create a suffocating film over the fabric, nanotechnology works at a molecular level. The nano-particles penetrate deep into the material structure, coating each individual fiber with an invisible shield.

Breathability Meets Protection: Because the particles bond to the fibers individually, the material’s natural pores remain open. This is crucial for performance gear—air and water vapor can still escape (maintaining breathability), but liquid water molecules are too large to penetrate the nano-grid.

The efficiency is measured by the contact angle. Standard treatments often achieve around 90 degrees, whereas GoGoNano increases this to 120–180 degrees. This creates the “Lotus Effect” found in nature: water cannot wet the surface but instead forms perfect spherical beads. How long does the waterproofing protection actually last?

For items in storage or low use, Stay Dry can last up to 18 months and EcoProtect up to 12 months. However, for items you use daily (like shoes or jackets), friction wears down the coating over time. We recommend re-applying every 3 to 4 months to maintain maximum water repellency.

Which bottle covers more area: Stay Dry or EcoProtect?

Surprisingly, the smaller looking bottle! EcoProtect (250ml) is a pump spray containing 100% active liquid, offering higher coverage per bottle. Stay Dry (300ml) is an aerosol, meaning it contains gas propellant to create a fine mist. Choose Stay Dry for ease of application on delicate suede, and EcoProtect for covering larger textile areas.

How long should I wait before using my items?

EcoProtect is water-based, so the fabric will feel damp initially. Allow it to air dry for 3-4 hours. Stay Dry dries to the touch in about 20 minutes, but for the nanotechnology to bond fully and provide maximum protection, we recommend letting it cure for 24 hours before heavy rain exposure.

Does it protect against drinks like coffee or wine?

Yes. Both products create a superhydrophobic surface. Liquids like coffee, wine, juice, or mud will bead up and roll off instead of soaking into the fiber. If a spill happens, simply rinse it off with water or dab it gently with a paper towel—do not rub it in.

Will the spray darken my leather or suede?

Yes, absolutely. GoGoNano coatings coat the individual fibers rather than creating a sealed film over the fabric. This ensures that air and moisture vapor can still escape (breathability) while liquid water is repelled from the outside. It is perfect for refreshing old ski jackets.

What does 'PFC-Free' mean for EcoProtect?

It means EcoProtect is free from Per- and Polyfluorinated Chemicals (PFCs), which are often found in standard waterproofing sprays and are harmful to the environment. EcoProtect is biodegradable, non-toxic, and safe to use indoors.

Is it safe for pets and children?

Once dry and cured, treated items are completely safe for pets and children. For the application process itself: EcoProtect is non-toxic and safe to apply indoors. Stay Dry is an aerosol solvent, so it should be applied outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, keeping pets away until the smell dissipates.

Do both sprays offer UV protection?

Yes. Both Stay Dry and EcoProtect contain UV-inhibitors. This is an excellent feature for outdoor furniture, curtains, or suede shoes, as it prevents the sun from bleaching the colors and weakening the fabric fibers over time.

Can I wash items after treating them?

Yes, but washing with detergent will degrade the nano-coating much faster than rain. Both products withstand gentle hand washing well. If you machine wash an item with detergent, we strongly recommend spraying a fresh layer of protection once it dries to restore full performance.
